The Drum Lesson Project (TDLP)

I think I found one of the coolest channel that teaches me what I always wanted to learn. Famous licks by legendary drummers are broken down into bite size so we can digest better. Drum notations/ slower tempo are demonstrated, making it easy to learn.

One great disadvantage is that these lessons are taught in Japanese. There are a lot of talking in the video and if you're like me (who can't understand japanese) it would be senseless babbling. However, if you are able to read drum notations or figure out what is being played (the movements are slow enough for the naked eye), you will be able to get a great deal out of the drum lessons.

Chop Of The Day

 One of the best chop builders on Youtube. Fresh videos each week, showing how the chop is played in actual tempo, slowed down and applied in a groove. If you are thinking of picking up some chops, visit DKdrumSpecialized on Youtube Channel. Pretty tight and sick chops going on.

Regular updates on his channel as well. I really appreciate Youtube Drummers who give back to the community by offering free drum lessons as many of the aspiring drummers out there may not have the ability to afford paying for drum lessons.

32th odd note

This is a pretty cool concept. We all learned 32th note but most of the time it is in even groupings. Odd grouping add a little twist to it.

John Bonham

Drum history

One of the drummers you have to know. John Bonham invented the Bonham triplets, first heard in Moby Dick by Lep Zeppelin. You can hear it being used in the video at 4:15

 

 

Here is one video that teaches the Bonham triplet. The concept is a basic pattern of RLfoot(Tri-p-let)  but to get it up to speed it is rather intermediate/advance. 

Have fun throwing one of these in solos.

Half time Shuffle Fill

Half time shuffles are fun but you need some more licks to spice it up even more. Check out this fill based on 16th note triplet. Throw one of those in your playing.

Dude how can anyone not know him. One of the best drum teachers on Youtube. His explanations are so clear and he got some sick thing going on with his legs. His doubles are so even and tight. Do note that he takes down his old videos after a while.
